it was the CURDAT that was the issue.

Keep in mind though, by using idate() on the row in the table you're
forcing DB2 to walk the entire table as it can't use in index to help
w/record selection since it needs to run the function on each row. You
will find the sql runs faster (and maybe much faster) if you convert
your (current date - 7 days) to whatever your native format is instead
of converting your native format to a date. That is:

Select * from <file> WHERE QFDATE >= NativeDate(CURDAT - 7 DAYS)
