Sharon,
You might want to look at using the prefix key word in the F specs.

FFilename++IPEASF.....L.....A.Device+.Keywords+++++++++++++++++++++++++
FPRODWORK UF A E K DISK PREFIX(B_)

Now as far as the program is concerned, all fields in file PRODWORK
start with B_.

Example: The field PROD# is now B_PROD#.

subject: Free Format question

Hello all, I must start by saying the vast knowledge of the
people who post here just astounds me, it really helps me
stay in touch with the many many ways RPG can be used and
abused. Thanks for your involvement here.

My newbie question: I am trying to get the rust off my Free
Format skills, I work in LANSA mostly, I want to rename a
field in free. I see in the Redbooks how RENAME is used for
the record format and then a Data Structure is created with
the new record format name and the new field name listed there.

Is that the proper way to go or is there something more
direct? Or just list that section the old RPGIV way then go
into my free code. I would like to know the free way if possible.

Any input would be appreciated.
