While teaching myself a bit about SQL CLI from RPG I thought I'd experiment
with the 'SET CONNECTION' function. Copied the PR straight out of the book
(link below) and added it the SQLCLI_H /copy member (thanks ScottK). My test
program compiles fine but won't bind to the new function. Issues message
"CPD5D02 Definition not found for symbol 'SQLSetConnection'."

The spelling and capitalization appear to be correct. Why, for instance,
can the system find the "SQLSetConnectAttr" function, but not the
"SQLSetConnection"?

Run the command: DSPSRVPGM QSQCLI DETAIL(*PROCEXP)

Do you see SQLSetConnection in the list? No. Can you find it documented in the iSeries Information Centre? No. Therefore it is probably a function provided on other implementations of DB2. Why is it not available on iSeries? Probably because it is not necessary. If you compare the list of CLI functions documented for iSeries with the list for DB2 UDB you'll find a number of functions that exist on one platform but not on others.

The reason the bind fails is because SQLSetConnection does not exist in (or at least is not exported from) the QSQCLI service program.

Simon Coulter.
