I have two programs, running in the same activation group, that conditionally (i.e., if not %Open( ) ) open the same physical file. Program A calls Program B. Program A opens the file and goes along its merry way until it calls Program B. I had both programs in debug this morning and noticed that, even though Program A opened the file, so did Program B.

I searched through the ILE Reference manual (oh yeah, these are both ILE RPG programs) and couldn't find anything that explained this. That is, I would not have expected Program B to open the file since Program A did that. The only reason that Program B opens the file is because it is a plug-in that any program can use for validation purposes.

Everything seemed to work OK, but I was just curious Why the open in Program B (the callee).

Thanks.
