For some reason, *INKL is off before the chain, and on after. I do not
see anything in the SFL record that could be causing this.

If you're really, really stuck, have a look at all the parameter lists. Make sure the called programs' definitions match the calling programs. It seems bizarre, but it can happen that mis-mapped parameters can cause memory corruption and not just around a 'CALL' operation.

If you've applied PTFs recently, that can be the trigger that moves the memory corruption around to a place where you finally noticed it.
