It's not just end users. Some of us IT folk have been known to make a
mistake once in a while. Any DB changes via ad hoc interfaces (DFU,
interactive SQL, etc.) carries risks. It may not be SOX compliant either.

Commitment control has it's place. We use it some places and probably
should use it in more. A side benefit of setting up DB journaling is
that you gain another tool for DB problem analysis. I found some
elusive bugs by dumping the journals.
