As I recall, when using LIKE with a host variable, the image can't have extra blanks or the LIKE won't work properly. You don't show the definition of "addres", but I'd expect it to be a fixed length character field. When you load your image data to it, the blanks get padded to the end of your string. When SQL uses the image field, it is actually searching for:
'%1811 CLEAR% '

To SQL this means "find '1811 CLEAR' in a string, followed by any number of additional character, followed by n blanks." (n is the number of padded blank characters that go added to your find string.)

Some examples I've seen in IBM documentation indicates that something like this is considered "safe"....

addres = '%1811 CLEAR%' + *all'%';

This forces % into the remainder of the image field, eliminating the trailing blanks.

hth,
Eric

Subject: SQL Want run.

This code doesn't run. It complies fine but if you step through it in debug
it goes to the end with running the SQL. SQLCODE OF SQLCA = 1077952576 which
if I understand correctly is just garbage in the field before the SQL is
run. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong?
