I was told this should be posted on this forum - any other input?

When you say RPGMail I am assuming you are talking about my tool at
http://mowyourlawn.com. IMO you don't want to go directly to the Java API's
because of the potential complexity of interfacing with them. That is why I
developed a thin veneer over them to make it easier to use. It is ALL open
source so if you ever needed to you could change it.

With that said if you are going to spend any amount of time on this I would
instead go with Brad Stone's MAILTOOL (www.bvstools.com) which is very
inexpensive and it can give you the same functionality that JavaMail can
give you.

Subject: [Java101] calling mail.jar from rpg

At my company not many of the developers are familiar with Java. But we are
wanting to use the mail.jar from sun to send emails from the as400. Has any
one written wrappers in rpg to do direct calls to the sun jar? We want to
make it so all the developers understand whats happening before the java
classes are used. Can this be done. Every other example i've seen
(javamail, and rpgmail) both use more java than is supplied by Sun. Any
help would be appreciated!
