When passing parms between programs, we typically pass them as character
types and do the conversion inside the program; this is to avoid the nuances
with programs and how they receive and parse the parms.

Do I need to be concerned with this as it relates to passing parms to a
sub-procedure is or will its internal parameter validation handle this
automatically?

If you're writing the procedure in RPGLE, then the source type is RPGLE.

Then what would the source type be?

Probably not. It would probably be created as a module with
CRTRPGMOD, and then bound into a program or service program.

still created as you would normally create an RPGLE program?
