>> Remember, EGL requires NO knowledge of Java and NO knowledge of HTML.

Most of your comments I'm not going to get into Joe - but this one I have
to disagree with.

Note that _I_ do not have extensive experience in this area - but Bleddyn
Williams who spoke on the subject at COMMON Europe does. His presentation
was laced with remarks like "But we were able to deal with those issues
because of our vast Java/WebSphere experience".

Well, I had dinner with Bleddyn and the EGL developers and I didn't get that
sense from him. And during my session at the Rational conference, the EGL
team specifically stated that their goal was to never have you touch the
Java code.

You will want to learn HTML, of course, but as I've said in my response to
Aaron, as long as the generated HTML is good enough, you don't have to mess
with it, and when you're good enough to change it, you can.

Are you sure you're not looking at EGL/WAS through the rosy glasses of one
who also has that extensive expertise?

Quite sure. CGIDEV2 has no WYSIWYG development tools, so you need to know
far more HTML there -- even if it's just enough to be able to read through
an HTML page and figure out where to stick the CGIDEV markers.

As to deploying an EGL application in WebSphere, that's pretty much an
industry standard export/import thing. Anybody who has deployed a properly
packaged J2EE application (and WDSC does the packaging for you) to Tomcat or
JBoss or WAS can tell you it's quite painless.
