List the fields you want cleared under a data structure and then clear the data structure. Consider Rest as an opcode, too, if there in INZ() stuff.

This way you remove extraneous data before you read in the record you intend to
write.

In an RPG program, some records have only a few fields populated, whilest other
records have more fields populated.

A simple program is pushing records from one file to the next. But with some of
them, they are getting data written that does not belong.

I tried CLEAR but this clears the entire record.

What should I be using?
