I don't know if I would characterize that as a 'disadvantage' ... I
often use internal procedures in a main program (I like 'em a *LOT* more
than subroutines) ... but with the clear intention that it's only going
to be used within that program.

If I find that the procedure needs to be called from other programs,
I'll move it to a service program and, either delegate the internal
procedure to call the external procedure, or just change the main
program to call the externalized procedure.
