Also, once you have the errnum - make a message ID of CPE plus that number - you get another way to display a human readable text description of the error. if the number id 3501, the message ID is CPE3501.

When one of the Unix type API's fails, calling %str(strerror(errno)))

Hi folks,

In my RPG program:

When there is a failure using open(), write(), etc. to access IFS files,

don't see any error messages in the joblog.

When there is a problem, does anyone know if there is a way to determine
what the error might be?

I found my bug by trial and error. My open() wouldn't work when I used
the 'Exclusively Create' flag but it does now that I use the 'Create
File
if not exist' flag.
