Why not just create packed fields to pass as parms?

d clsyr s 4p 0
d clsmo s 2p 0
d clsda s 2p 0

clsyr = clfcyy;
clsmo = clfcmm;
clsda = clfcdd;
closedate = truedate(clsyr: clsmo: clsda);

clfcyy is 4s o, clfcmm is 2s 0, clfcdd is 2s 0 these are fields if the file
read.

The function truedate requires packed fields. This is code that is in
production on our system.
