I think Bryan wants to use a second API to get object details, which is
the retrieval he was referring to. Bryan, you also mentioned that you
were concerned about processing the whole list of QUSLOBJ before
presenting the first page. My thought was that you could use the method
that Bruce posted earlier, but modify it so that instead of writing to the
subfile, it writes to another file (or user space, user index, keyed
dtaq(?), etc.). Then, base your subfile filling routine on the current
position in the second object (I think this is sort of what I'd end up
with if taking Takken's suggestion). That way, you only process <subfile
page size> objects before presenting the first page.

I can think of two complications with this strategy. You'd need to keep
track of how many objects you'd loaded from QUSLOBJ + <retrieve object
info API>, and if you get past the bottom of the already-loaded data,
you'd process the next page's worth of QUSLOBJ info. The second
complication would be that your position-to idea would probably not work,
which in this case may be a deal-breaker.
