too bad. it is an interesting topic. from what I am seeing of
sqlServer, the concept of selecting a row for update, doing some
calcs, and then updating the locked row is not supported. The reason
being that it is contrary to the disconnected database and network
model of application programming that MSFT has embraced.

RPG code makes heavy use of what I think is called optimistic locking.
How would you port RPG code that wants to read records, lock them
and then update?
