My bad...

Here's the trick - do NOT specify a program on STRDBG. Just simply type
in STRDBG UPDPROD(*YES) When it is done running, then look at the
joblog.

I just tried that and didn't get a job log. Our shop's default for
submitted jobs is LOG(4 0 *NOLIST) LOGCLPGM(*NO). I changed the job's
parameters to LOG(4 0 *MSG) LOGCLPGM(*YES) and got a job log, but did
not get any details regarding the SQL process. Perhaps the tip
suggested is for interactive jobs only?

Kin says:

I had to STRSRVPGM before starting STRDBG UPDPROD(*YES). I should have
realized that for a batch job. My bad.

Now I have a job log that is 173 pages long. And it looks like I am
getting a (SQL7913 Message: ODP deleted.) for every invocation of
$Allocate. Does that sound right?
