   6. SQL statement help (Jay Vaughn)

The following statement executes fine... however, I want results based on
QDINST not being found in BANKINST... I simply tried changing "IN" to "NOT
IN" and it didn't like it... any suggestions?

SELECT DISTINCT QDSTCD CONCAT DIGITS(QDAREA) CONCAT DIGITS(QDBANK)
FROM BRDETAIL WHERE QDDGRP = 'DEP' AND QDVERI = 'N' AND QDCLVL = '5'
AND QDINST IN(SELECT QIINST FROM BANKINST)

Jay:

Perhaps

 select ... from ... where ...
AND not QDINST IN(SELECT QIINST FROM BANKINST)

will work. I'd swear I recall this form working when [ QDINST not IN( ] wouldn't work at times in the past. Perhaps due to DB2 group PTF levels, perhaps just some prior releases.

What version of OS/400 are you using? What's the DB2 group level?
