I guess I'm too young for this, but how do you run this thing? I compiled
the DSPF36 and RPG36 sources (are those the correct types?)

Yes.

but I can't find a way to start the program itself.

You have to be in the S/36 environment (If it's installed on your system, you can start it with STRS36 command).

To compile the display file:

 - type: SDA <enter>
 - Take option #7
 - Input library should be the library containing the QS36SRC file
   where the STREKFM member is
 - Source member = STREKFM
 - Output library = Library to compile to.
 - Display file = STREKFM

It will "schedule compilation" for the display file. This means it submitted the create job to batch. Wait for it to finish.

To compile the program, type the following, except replace "SRCLIB" and "OBJLIB" with the appropriate libraries for the source lib (where the QS36SRC file is) and the object lib, respectively.

- RPGC STREK,SRCLIB,,,,,,OBJLIB <enter>

To run the program, type:

  // LOAD STREK <enter>
  // RUN <enter>

Ahhh, the joys of the S/36 environment!
