Which kinda makes our point about the requirement being unrealistic.

From a subsequent post I see that VARPG is involved - in which case the use
of C functions such as rand() is just fine.  I think if the original poster
checks the examples shipped with VARPG there are a couple of games in there
and I suspect at least one has a random number routine in it.
