Subject: Why doesn't this trigger an invalid date

Given the following statement

C *ISO Test(DE) RBRDDTE
C If %ERROR

Where RBRDDTE = 02001213
Why does this date not get identified as an error?

This date got keyed in error it should have been 20001213
