My dumb question of the day (or at least until my next dumb question...)
is there a reason why you wouldn't want to use PREFIX() on the F spec
for the file???

Thanks,

I don't think this has any bearing at all on how the file is
handled/defined. What are the symptoms you are seeing?

Folks:

This is a potentially dumb question ... would renaming a field in an I
spec, of an externally described file, change the way the system handles
that file? Possibly making it considered a program described file?

Thanks!
