I've used that parameter back in V5R1. By the way, instead of hard-coding the
'$;, you can use *CURSYM instead, which you can change with the H-spec keyword
CURSYM. If you have programs that go international, you can do it that way and
just change the H-spec (or use a conditional define for whatever country). If
you don't define it, it defaults to '$'.

      /if defined(UK_system)
     H CURSYM('£')
      /endif

     C                   Eval      Error_Desc = 'History NSF fee balance = '
     C                             + %TRIM(%EDITC(His_Nsf_Fee :'J':*CURSYM))
     C                             + '; Master NSF fee balance = '
     C                             + %TRIM(%EDITC(Cnmnsf :'J':*CURSYM))

Is it a redbook? Do you the link or the SG #? I searched the redbook website
for /free and nothing was found.

Look at the %EditC in the ILE RPG Reference Manual for the version you are
on. I believe in V5R3, you can specify a third parmeter (maybe even
earlier).

formatteddollar = %EditC(dollarAmt:'J':'$');

I suggest going to the IBM site and downloading the PDF file, as I use it
basically everyday.

I'm working on a report and the program is in /free. I want to be
able to use an edit code on the output spec so the decimal point and
negative sign display but I also need a floating $ and I can't find
any documentation on it.

dsply '$';

should work. Perhaps we need more information?
