Paul,

Yes, Navigator is still a useful tool, especially for legacy monsters
(of which we have many).

Yes, a truly structured approach would flow chart (or the equivalent)
before the programming. Therefore, IBM should not be required to provide
flow charting at "no additional charge". However, since you suggested it
to Kalpana who was looking for a flow chart utility, I thought I might
have overlooked a feature that might be useful for those who "Shoot
(program) first, talk (document) later". Why that might have seemed
useful to me, the wise can discern for themselves ;).

Roger

Hi Roger,

No way to include subprocedure calls in Navigator (that I know of).

The one benefit that Navigator has over the outline view is that, for
subroutines, you can see the calling structure. Not much benefit if you
are only using subprocedures <g> but kinda handy for deciphering those
old legacy monsters.

I think the labs are working on a version of Navigator for the LPEX
editor in RSE so maybe it will include the subprocedure calls.

Agreed that it does not provide a real full blown flowchart - third
party product required for that. But, assuming a structured approach to
programs, is a full flowchart required?

Can somebody tell me about tool that can be used to automatically
generate flow chart from RPG source Code? Am aware of X-Analysis, apart
from X-Analysis do we have any other tool that can perform this
function.

Regards,
Kalpana
