Bob,

I apologize if this was mentioned in another post. The thread is coming
across in chunks for me.

What member name are you using for the define? Is it the copy member
name or the program source member name? I'm thinking it has to be the
copy member name. If that's correct I don't understand the point of
defining it in your example. The MBRNAME define isn't used after it's
defined. If it is defined (by the program source I presume) when the
member is loaded the copy source is skipped. It seems backwards to me.

Neither,
I do this:

 /IF NOT DEFINED(MBRNAME)
 /DEFINE MBRNAME
 /else
 /eof
 /endif
d proc1 PR
d piParm1 10

d proc2 PR
d piParm2 10

d proc2 PR
d piParm2 10

I use the member name as the name for the DEFINED()
parameter. That way I never have an issue with multi-defined
symbolic names. However I do often include an underscore in
the name just to be more confident that it isn't defined
elsewhere. For example:
  If NOT DEFINED(APPTITLE_MBRNAME)
  /DEFINE APPTITLE_MBRNAME
etc.
