OSG and (DataLink NT) CSMS communication from iSeries?

Dear all,
   
  Does someone has experience with  an socket client interface on iSeries to a 
socket interface to a MS DataLink with CSMS using OSG on a MS box?
  We have ample experience with sockets servers and clients but have never had 
to communicate to something like this (or perhaps did, but never knew).
  CSMS should stand for 'Client Server Messaging System'.
  OSG should stand for 'Open Systems Group'
  From the documentation I have derived that OSG has certain specifics in the 
data sent (First Four Bytes depicts the length of the data send/recieved in 
'network integer format') that are less common in normal Socket communication 
and that perhaps require special conversion.
   
  What do we have to expect???
