I can't remember which. This will immediately return back the file lock

Here's how I would do it:

monitor;
       chain (key) record1;

on-error FILE_LOCK_ERROR;
      chain (key) record2;

endmon;

where FILE_LOCK_ERROR is a constant defined as 01218.

Hope this helps,
Adam

Subject
Handling a File Lock

What is the best way to handle this situation?
I have searched the archives and didn't find a solution to this.

If a chain to a file fails because it is being saved to tape,
chain to an alternate file.
