RPG is still around because the AS/400 / iSeries / i5 still is. It just
plain works. Like that old, dependable pickup truck in the driveway. 200K
miles on it, and it still runs. Not as fancy as a BMW, but it gets you from
Point A to Point B every time, and never breaks down.

RPG does most everything you need to get done from a business perspective.
Not as fancy as Java, .NET or C#, but, again, it gets the job done (and with
less effort to boot).

It doesn't need to be a Rolls-Royce, as long as it rolls <vbg>.

Subject: RPG, 10 years from now

HI - This is a Friday topic. But, I was having a conversation w/ the company
Controller. He indicated that he was concerned regarding the long term
support for the RPG language. He is not an IT guy, but is very industry
savvy.

I immediatly laughed and said no way, the support will always be there.

Then he got me to thinking, what if he is right?

Does anyone else share this concern?

Steve
