Steve,

Simply use different OFLIND indicators for each prtf. Then before you
write to a given file, check its overflow line indicator variable and
write the files headings if needed.

fPRTF1     o    e             printer oflind(gPrintFile1Overflowed)
fPRTF2     o    e             printer oflind(gPrintFile2Overflowed)

d gPrintFile1Overflowed...
d                 s               n   inz(*ON)
d gPrintFile2Overflowed...
d                 s               n   inz(*ON)

 /free

  // do whatever

  select;
    when NeedToWritePrtf1();
      if gPrintFile1OverFlowed();
        WritePrtf1Headings();
      endif;
      WritePrtf1Detail();
    when NeedToWritePrtf2();
      if gPrintFile2OverFlowed();
        WritePrtf2Headings();
      endif;
      WritePrtf2Detail();
  endsl;

 /end-free

For additional consideration, here's some alternative code:

 /free

  // do whatever

  wPrtfToUse = DeterminePrinterFile(fld1:fld2:fld3);
  if PrinterFileOverflowed(wPrtfToUse);
    WriteHeadings(wPrtfToUse);
  endif
  WriteDetail(wPrtfToUse);

 /end-free
