There are tools to let you create Excel from RPG but going the other
direction is going to be tough using native Excel file formats since
that format is not structured at all. Open an Excel file in notepad to
see what I mean. csv file import is fairly easy to deal with. Are you
users at the latest version of Excel ? You might be able to use the xml
file format instead of native Excel format and then parse the data with
an xml parser or in V5R4 there is suppose to be some XLM support in RPG

I'm fairly desperate to have my RPG programs interact with Excel
spreadsheets so field people can do their budgeting off-line.
I need to be able to create the workbook and later be able to read
rows/columns from it. Simple .csv files are not going to cut it.

Does anyone know of an iSeries/Excel product that fits the bill?

Any help will be appreciated.
