Ok I found a workaround...appears that the error is not related to the
file (even though it's blowing up there stating that the file is closed
when it's not....

Anyway, I have been duplicating & removing various bits of code to find
my failing point (which should have produced a "real" error message....)

The failing point was due to the GetOSInfo() procedure in the service
program. I restructed the procedure to return a varying field (in this
case the BasicInfo DS) & made the necessary code change to the extract
program KR0057EX & it works fine now. Should this be reported to IBM???
What's your opinion??

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Subject: Pointer or Parameter Error...

Here's some more information...

I dumped the error & the file status is stating that the file is closed
during an I/O operation. I added a check after the open statement & it
returns that the file is open. There is NO close statement on this
file. I added another check for the %open before the write & it returns
a blank...I can look at my open files & sure enough the file is open???

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Ok...this is really strange (at least to me...) I have a data
extraction program I'm developing & throughout the process I have been
unit testing & everything has been working fine (incomplete data...but
expected at that time...) anyway the write to the file has performed
fine until recently. I can't figure out for the life of my what has
happened. Now the program chugs along fine, output data looks great but
when I hit the write statement it bombs with the "pointer or parameter
error" I normally associate with procedure calls etc. I've recompiled
the PF, service program & the extraction program multiple times to no
avail.

Here are the source members....someone please help a poor eyesore
geek...
