If the spool file is *user ascii then it cannot be copied or displayed. You
need a special tool to do it and I do not remember what it is...

Subject: Trying to read a Spool file

Hi
I am trying to read a spool file in RPG. Before RPG, I have written a CL
program where I am creating a physical file (YYYY) by CRTPF and then
doing CPYSPLF the spool to this physical file. And then reading the
physical file in RPG.

The CPYSPLF command:

CPYSPLF FILE(XXXX) TOFILE(LIBR01/YYYY) JOB(417971/USR01/JOB01)
CTLCHAR(*PRTCTL)

But in CL, when doing CPYSPLF, I am getting an error message "File XXXX
number 6 cannot be displayed, copied, or sent". And the error code is 5.
Below is the description of the error:

5 - The file has a page definition specified.

Recovery . . . : If the data format (DTAFMT) parameter is specified
as
*RCDDATA on the Send Network Spooled File (SNDNETSPLF) command, try

specifying *ALLDATA as the value for the DTAFMT parameter.

I have tried other CTLCHAR parameter values, but I am getting the same
problem.

Please help.

Thank you,
Amitava
