Now my knowledge is still in the NEW phase, however, from what I understand
CHGPF will save you from have to recompile any logical files.  So he would
be saving in that step.

Phil,

When you change the DDS source for a PF, and then use CHGPF referencing
the updated source member, it will update the file to use the changes in
the DDS.

So if you edit the DDS and add a field, you can use CHGPF, and it'll add
the field to the file.

AFIAK, using CHGPF this way is nearly identical to renaming the file,
creating a new one with CRTPF and copying the data back.  If there's a
performance difference between the methods, I doubt that it's significant.
The bigger problem is recompiling all of the programs that use teh
external definition, and the time that that'll take.
