Hi,

for Programs we use the following naming conventions:
XX1122Y33

XX - Application
11 - Specific Part of the application i.e. 01 - Management Master-Files,
02 - List programs / Statistics ...
22 - running No

1122 - for physical and logical files are character

Y - C = CL-Pgm, R = RPG-Pgm, M = Module
    W = Printer-Files, F = Display-Files
    P = physical File, L = logical File, J = Join logical file,
    V = View, I = SQL index, U = Unique Key logical file or SQL - Index

33 - running No.

For ILE - Programming, we group exported procedures depending on their
functionality into one or several modules.
For these modules we use more speaking names: i.e. CHKAAAA11 (Check
Procedures for field AAAA), UpdBBBBB11 (Update file XXBBBB) or DltXXXX11
(Delete from file XXXX)
These modules are gouped to service programs depending on the first 7
characters.

Mit freundlichen Gru?en / Best regards

Birgitta

Betreff: Re: Naming Conventions on Your Programs

I like the XXnnnnYY style, where XX is the application, nnnn is a
sequential numbering system, and YY is the object type (R= RPG, C = CL,
D= Display file, O=output(printer), P=physical file, Ln = Logical files.)

I like two other refinements.
1)In the nnnn sequencing we often assign a series of numbers to a
project. (i.e. Use the 723n series for this project, or use 72nn for
that series.)
2) use the application XX for the source file, as in ARSRC, APSRC,
instead of QRPGLESRC, QCLSRC, etc.
