You could try this (it may be utterly non-performant, but I think it could 
still be quicker in case of more special characters):

     d SpecialChars    c                   '#@|,;:/.%$£µ'
     D StringToCheck   s             25A   inz('Test###,morechars')

      /free
          If %xlate(SpecialChars:*blanks:StringToCheck) <> StringToCheck;
             // Special chars found
        Else;
           // String was clean
        EndIf;
      /End-Free
