Have you tried using a varchar field type as the 5th parm??

Thanks,

  Simon,

Thanks for responding. I did check the archives before I posted my
original call for help. In fact, I used the code in the archive to
generate the call to the API and it works fine if you are intending to
convert the stream file to another file. That is not what I am trying to
do and there is nothing in the archives that I can see that addresses
the problems with trying to convert the stream file directly into a
spooled file. That's why I mentioned the problems with what to put in
the 5th parameter (Main Storage Output Image) in this condition.

I'm beginning to think that no one uses this API this way and that
maybe I should just convert the stream file into another file and use
AFP overlay with the CRTPAGSEG command to try to print the document.
That's the way its suggested in the archives. The concern I have with
this approach is time. I'm going to be printing thousands of files each
night and thought I could save a step by converting directly to the
spooled file.

  Al
