Would this still be true for a *ASYNC connection that uses icf?  We've
two different apps that doing connection to the paging terminal.  One
uses socket TCP, the other uses icf *ASYNC connection.

By *ASYNC do you mean an asynchronous modem? It's been an awfully long time since I've written RPG code that talks directly using a modem, but if I remember correctly, killing the job does disconnect the modem, and that causes the "carrier detect" pin on the remote side to change from on to off. So, the remote program should have no problem detecting the change.

But, it's been an awfully long time since I've done that... so I could be completely wrong.
