Protecting part of a field -- RPG400-L

Hello,
I have a field len=15, that I have to pre-fill so that the user only has
to key in 3 positions of this. I would like to protect the first 9
positions of this, so that they don't overwrite it by accident or design.

Do I make this field into 2 or actually 3 fields, or is there a more
elegant way to this?
