This is certainly an interesting point, Buck!  The ability to share data
paths is crucial in certain circumstances, but unwanted sharing is painful.
I like the concept of application-specific AGs, although as you know it's
not always easy to define the boundaries of an application.

Back in the day when we actually chiseled the data onto the rotating stone
tablets at SSA, we tried to assign files to either a single application or
to "cross-application", and at the end of the day the vast majority of files
were used by more than one application.  But since with AGs you can have the
same file in many different applications that's not an issue, so the concept
of application-level segregation actually becomes meaningful again.
