As a matter of fact Rob, this subprocedure is called over and over. That
was my problem with doing the LR. My goal is to have the files closed when
I am completely done calling the sub procedure. I leave the activation
group as the default on the CRTPGM. Your guidance is apprececiated.

It depends.
Is this subprocedure called multiple times? Then setting on LR may
adversely affect performance.

For example
MyCLpgm
..calls Pgm1
....calls pgmA
......calls subprocedure several times
..calls Pgm2
Then setting on LR, or the use of OPEN/CLOSE, or even ending that new
activation group, might be good when the step that calls the subprocedure
multiple times is done running.

ILE and Access Paths

I am fairly new to ILE and have recently created my first sub-procedure.
Yesterday, I had a program that referenced this sub-procedure, run within
a
job stream. This job stream is a CL job that calls program after program.
Anyway after the program that referenced the sub-procedure ran, the two
files used within the sub-procedure stayed open under QILE. What can I do
to avoid this in the future? Should I set on LR in my subprocedure before
I RETURN? Any help would be appreciated?

Thanks
