That worked! I don't know what I was thinking. I do have another situation
with varying length field I wonder if anyone could help with.

D InOrd           S             25A   Varying
D WkOrd           S             15  5
D SvOrd           S              6  0
C                   EVAL      WkOrd = %DEC(InOrd:5:2)
C                   EVAL      SvOrd = WkOrdN

If I pass '18', I get 800000. I thought you could use %DEC to change VARCAR
fields to numeric?
