Hi Dave -

In the above scenario, the background displayed upon execution of step 4 is
the same background as displayed in step 2.  This situation persists until
the display file in PGMB is closed.  Given that PGMA and PGMB must remain
distinct programs, is there a way to have the current background displayed
when PGMB displays it's window?  It seems kludgy to close PGMB's display
file every time it's called.  Below is the DDS for PGMB.

Kludgy, yes, but in that same situation, that's exactly what I ended up doing. Since my PGMB can be called from many different programs, I couldn't do anything too esoteric on the PGMA side, so on each call my PGMB opens the display file, does its thing, and closes it.

Note: In the slight possibility that your PGMA and PGMB are actually using the same display file, a shared ODP would probably take care of your problem without needing to open and close the file in PGMB.
