Also check for the file definition in the library list. May be the file 
definition is different. The field is not there while you think it is there. 
May be the correct file (with that E1ACDT field) is in different library.

On taking the option that would run that piece of embedded sql the screen 
returned nil records...

a look at the job log revealed the message:  

"Column E1ACDT not in specified tables."


(this is a field from the subselect file LEVNAC1L)
