I've created two physical files, INVOICES and LINEITEMS, and am attempting to build an interactive order entry application which will use them. I've successfully designed the subfile and subfile control DSPF files and I'm now attempting to write the RPG. I'm using ILE RPG on V4R5 if it makes any difference. I've determined that I need to specify in the F-spec that the file uses subfiles and which field is the relative row number. The way my files are set up each invoice has an INVOICEID and each line item has a field where it specifies which invoice it belongs to by filling in the INVOICEID. This should occur behind the scenes without the user needing to enter it. What exactly is the relative row number? How do I specify that the rows displayed/processed should be limited to rows matching the current INVOICEID? Is there a good tutorial explaining this somewhere? The IBM RPG documentation/redbooks have been less than helpful.

Thanks,
