Yes. Basically if you do not tell the program that you are not using
commitment control then it looks to ensure that the file is journalled
(rollback is dependent upon the journal receiver entries).

Ok, what I have is this now:
           updateStatemnt = 'UPDATE WPUSCHEDLE SET '
                          + %Trim(ctrName) + '='
                          + %Char(retField) + ', '
                          + %Trim(numName) + '='
                          + %Char(retField) + ' WHERE ('
                          + %Trim(dateName) + '='
                          + %Char(inPickupDate) + ') AND (WPUAREA='''
                          + Wcgararea + ''')';
      /End-Free
     C/Exec Sql
     C+ PREPARE mainUpdate From :updateStatemnt
     C/End-Exec
     C/Exec Sql
     C+ EXECUTE mainUpdate Using :updateStatemnt
     C/End-Exec

but it doesn't seem to be working. What am I missing?

After the PREPARE, use EXECUTE as follows:
C/Exec SQL EXECUTE mainSelect using :mainStatement

If you want to update the file, change "Select * from" to "Update" and add
the appropriate SET clauses.

Hope that helps.

     * Prepare Select Statement
     C/Exec Sql
     C+ Prepare mainSelect From :mainStatement
     C/End-Exec

So I'd just build my updateStatement and how would the C/ and C+
statements
work?
