Peter:

One API that might be useful is the Rename Object (QLIRNMO) API, one of the
Object APIs. It does a couple things beyond simply 'renaming' an object that
can make this useful. I use that as a part of a kind of change-management I do
for my own development work. Handling authorities/ownership so that the 'new'
object cleanly reflects the old takes some care. I'm not sure how far you could
go with what you want without resorting to CL, most likely ILE CL procedures
though QCMDEXC or QCAPCMD could be useful, unless you want to get into some
complex programming.

Perhaps you could fake a kind of "CrtDupObj" by using a combination of some
Backup & Recovery APIs? I.e., save the object then immediately restore it to
where you wanted?
