I too, believe that additional testing would be required.  Simple things 
like override scoping for one.

About 60% of our programs are still in RPGIII. 
We only convert what we have to change. 
We do not see any advantage to convert to RPGIV, 
if we do not redesign the programs.
Converting to RPGIV, even without changing anything, 
requires additional tests.
 
All new development is written in RPGIV considering the ILE concepts.
