To answer your question, I want to use the alarm() api in my
application, and indeed it does generate a signal when the alarm goes
off.
In response to your question, I decided to fiddle with the alarm() and
sigaction() APIs, and I've got them working. I used this technique as an
easy way to make the connect() API time out for an article that will be
published in my newsletter tomorrow.
The source code for the article can be found at the following link, if you
want to look at it as a sample for how to use sigaction():
