Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. Yes, I am trying to debug a submitted job.

Essentially, here's what the programs do:

- Run PGMA interactively - Enter some data
- PGMA calls SS100C and passes 15 parameters
- SS100C runs a SBMJOB and calls SS101C and passes the 15 parameters
along
with the parameters JOB(BCH01) and JOBQ(BCH01)
- SS101C calls PGMB and passes 15 parameters

It is the PGMB that I would like to debug.

So, based on this information, what would I have to enter into the
parameters for STRSRVJOB?

Thanks in advance!

Brian.

Brian -

I need some clarification -
Are you trying to debug a submitted job?

If so, you'll need to use STRSRVJOB (you'll probably need to have the
system
administrator or security officer give you authority to this command) to

service the batch job, then you can start debug on the program that is
running in the batch job to debug it.

Subject: Debugging a Called RPG Program

Hi All,

Can someone tell me if there is a way to debug a program when it is
called by a CL command?

We have a program that is executed by a CL program and passed a bunch of
parameters. I want to debug this specific program, so I compiled the
program with debug (*ALL) and then started debug and added a few
breakpoints.

I then run the initial program, and enter the required data. This
program in turn will set up the parameter list which then calls a CL
program. This CL program sets up the batch job and then calls ANOTHER
CL program which calls my RPG program (is your head spinning yet? :-)).

It is this last program I would like to debug. I know it can be done by
manually passing in all of the parameters (15 of them!), but is there an
easier way?

Thanks!

Brian.
