I don't know if you want the full wide-open craziness of a Wiki or the "cult of personality" of a blog, but there is something to be said for a nicely arranged set of online documents that support "field" additions. The multimedia idea is also a good one, although still a little rough around the edges. IIRC, Shannon O'Donnell has been doing some multimedia tips lately, and I included a few in WDSC: Step by Step; the biggest hurdle there is (as always) widespread compatibility vs. features; resolution tends to suffer in the more common formats.
